The Eccentric Nature of Eccentric Tidal Disruption Events

Abstract Upon entering the tidal sphere of a supermassive black hole, star is ripped apart by tides and transformed into stream debris. The ultimate fate that debris, properties bright flare produced observed, depends on number parameters, including energy center mass original star. Here we present results set smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations in which 1 M ⊙ , γ = 5/3 polytrope disrupted 10 6 hole. Each simulation has pericenter distance r p t (i.e., β ≡ / with radius), vary eccentricity e stellar orbit from 0.8 up to 1.20 study nature fallback debris onto hole long-term unbound material. For eccentricities ≲ 0.98, curve distinct, three-peak structure induced self-gravity. ≳ 1.06, core reforms following its initial disruption. Our have implications for, e.g., disruption events binaries.
